Micro BlueTarget Kit

Description
This Kit offers a fast and cost-effective way to develop wireless networking applications using Bluetooth wireless communi-cation technology and Ethernet, based on SND's Micro BlueTarget™ board, a single board network computer of just 3.2 x 5.9 cm PCB outline. The goal is to combine wireless with wired network interfaces. The Kit includes everything needed to operate a prototype of a wireless-to-wired communications router. Either an Ethernet cable or a serial cable can be replaced by a wireless link. Also it can serve as a direct link to Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones, PDAs or PCs. Using standard Bluetooth communi-cation profiles such as the serial port profile (SPP), the dial-up networking profile (DUNP) or the LAN access profile (LAP) any device or network connected to the Micro BlueTarget™ board is in reach and under control of a mobile user. The Network Operating System HyNetOS™ offers a Protocol Manager, a File Manager, a Device Manager with a Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), and various related system functions. Especially for the Micro BlueTarget™ boards it also offers a complete Bluetooth Host Protocol Stack as well as various Bluetooth application profiles.

Kit Editions
The Kit comes complete with hardware, HyNetOS™ operating system software including several extensions as well as all required development and administration tools. It is available in 2 different editions (refer to table below).

In the Java Edition only Java Programming is possible, the HyNetOS™ operating system environment is shipped as ROM code only (the OS can not be rebuild). Java Application code is developed on the PC and transferred to the target system via FTP file transfer.

In the Professional Edition additionally all C-Tools are included, so applications can be programed in Java or in C. The OS can be rebuild, thus new device drivers can be added and the OS can be adapted to support customer specific hardware. Even the hardware itself can be rebuild since also schematics are supplied.

The Professional Edition runs on any PC with Win98/ME/NT/ 2000/XP and Ethernet Adapter Card. A Java2 Standard Edition (J2SE) SDK from Sun Microsystems V1.4 or newer (available for free via Internet) is required to run SND's administration tools and the PC parts of the Client/Server demo software. The Java Edition also runs on non-Windows platforms providing a Java2 Standard Edition SDK.

Licensing
The kit price includes permanent licenses for Hyperstone's real-time kernel hyRTK and development tools as well as an Evaluation License for HyNetOS™ Base Version with all Extensions (as listed above) including 1 year of technical support and 1 year of update service. Up to 10 development seats can be equipped with this license. For serial products based on HyNetOS™ an upgrade to any of the production license levels is required. The licence policy is based on a royalty system.
