The SP2 (Self-Powered - Self-Boot) version allows booting from a code programmed in Flash instead of booting from a PC. This version includes software tools to program Flash directly from an ".out" DSP executable file. Like the standard Signal Ranger version, a PC can still be connected to the USB port for debugging or for interaction with the DSP application in real time. The PC can be connected at any time, even while the DSP code that has initiated from Flash is running.
The booting process was designed to be exactly the same when booting from Flash as it is when booting from a PC. This gives the developer a homogeneous environment from code development/debugging, where it is booted from the PC, to application deployment, where it may be done from Flash. No code modification is required on the PC or on the DSP for the boot to proceed from Flash.
